Exhibits and Awards

A couple of years ago, I had a client in my studio who, when she spotted this ring of ribbons I've won over the years. remarked  "Wow! If I'd won that many awards, I've have them strung all over the place."  I'll admit, it is gratifying...and a bit humbling...to have had my efforts validated over the years.  And, yes, once in a while, I am pretty proud of a particular award and am tempted to pin the ribbon to my chest and strut around.  But I resist that temptation.  This is enough of a reminder.

However, what really means the most to me are the kind notes and phone calls I receive from my patrons.  When I do a commission, I never quite know if I've captured the idea in the client's head unless they tell me.  It's quite gratifying to hear, "My father just cried when he opened that painting."  I save those notes to boost my morale on the days when things aren't going well.  So, thank you, friends.  Your comments mean more than I can express.

Last year, 2004, was a very rewarding year for me.  I received a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission for biking and painting.  And then was selected by Arts Alliance Indiana to design their annual state-wide award.  And...I received Best of Show for Painting at the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, the largest art fair in the country.

I'm crowing!
