The Ohio River Project arose out
of a smaller project which was to just paint the scenic areas of
my county, Crawford, Indiana. The Ohio River is the second
largest river system in the United States and was critical to
the exploration and settling of the nation.
From Pittsburg, PA to
Cairo, IL, the river traverses 981 miles through scenic valleys,
past old river towns and large cities. The distinctive
seasonal changes and opalescent light of the Ohio River Valley
are a painter's paradise but generally receive little attention
outside of the region.

It is my intention to bike along
the river and record my impressions in my sketches, paintings
and journals. Of necessity, I'll have to do this in legs and the
whole project may take years. Oh, well, we all need a "Big
Thing" to aspire to in our lives, don't we?
I began my ride this Spring at
appropriately named, "Artist's Point" right in my own county of
Crawford. I expect to have the first paintings from this
journey on this website shortly so please return soon.
