Travel furniture

I'm not quite sure how this project evolved this winter, but I think it was from a kid's class that I was planning for the Arts Center where I work part time. All the Visual Arts programming, including classes, both for children and adults, fall under my umbrella. I had never painted a piece of furniture in my life so I picked up some vintage chairs and a lot of library books and dove in. This was really great fun, like painting on odd-shaped canvases. I don't think this will become a career move for me, but I might dabble in a piece or two of art furniture in the future.

The first furniture that I did was a set of vintage or collectible chairs. I call these my "Travel Chairs", each based loosely on bike rides or other trips. Each chair was sanded and hand-finished, primed, painted, then coated with spar polyacrylic to resist water and UV rays. Each one is different and they are all for sale.
