View of Avignon from the Palais des
Papes, Watercolor, 20 x 27, $1000
Avignon was where my bike trip
began. I climbed the hill where the Palais of the Popes was built
in the 12th century. Nearly all I could see in any direction was
the red tiled roofs of the town of Avignon spreading before me.
The bright afternoon sun was shining, birds were diving off the wall on
which I was leaning to make this sketch, tourists and hawkers were
enjoying the day as much as I.
This painting has been exhibited in
the Watercolor Society of Indiana annual juried show.
